Hi Key Clubbers...
It makes me sad to realize that it's been almost a year since I got this position as the president; at the same time, I'm pretty excited to announce to you the 2013-2014 Key Club Officer Team:
Co-Presidents: Veronica Cho, Lilly Fang
Vice President: Kristy Yin
Secretaries: Yeonsoo Koo, Samantha Pol
Treasurer: Grace Jung
Editor: Crystal Tran
Historian: Nasa Xu
General Managers: Jeremiah Ling, Julia Serna
I want to congratulate the future officers and commend all applicants for your tenacity(?).
Now that we got the important stuff out of the way, few other things to talk about:
1) DCON Dues/Packets: I've been getting a lot of questions about late deposits and the informational packet. First of all, we are still accepting first deposits, but the cut-off date for having turned in at least $110 is March 8, 2013. This will allow us to process your money and turn it in for the Early Registration fee. Contrary to prior notices, we can only accept checks/money orders due to school policies. Permission slips and other important documents, as well as trivia information about the trip and the convention, can be found in our informational packet (click here) or at the Texas-Oklahoma District website. You can also contact any one of the officers or our sponsor/club advisor Mrs. Ciocca (click here).
In case you were wondering, we have approximately 40 members signed up to go! This is the largest we've ever had attend DCON and, quite possibly, the largest from ANY schools at DCON this year; kudos to you! Once we get a few more payments in, we'll have our parent meeting night and a rooming list to sign up for rooms. 34 days until DCON, woo!
2) 2013 Houston Area Dance Marathon: Friday, March 15, it's going down... Let's quickly recap to the last update - "...a massive party in Montrose to benefit the Children's Miracle Network. Parents: do not worry, we have chaperons So do attend and represent the CRHS Key Club!"
How awesome is that? You get to hang out with friends, while, at the same time, raising funds for the Children's Miracle Network, a foundation dedicated to helping out children unable to afford medical care but are in desperate need. Just remember to sign up/buy your ticket ($15) soon, so you can get your free shirt! We already have quite a few of our members going in a carpool group!
As always, thank you all for taking active roles in this club; not only does it mean a lot to the officers but also to the community!
Yours in service,
Hello Key Clubbers!
January slowly slipped past us and it's already the second month of the new year: February, the month of LOVE. Pshh... There's no time for that in Key Club...
ANYWAYS I do want to point out the importance of Friday, February 8th. There are TWO big things due that day...
1) Your Key Club officer applications: Yeah it crept up on you real quick, didn't it? How many of the applicants actually started on their speech and such? Make sure that it's printed and sealed in an enveloped (or not if you despise folding paper documents like me) and turned in to Mrs. Ciocca or any of the officers by the 8th! As a side-note, to ensure the confidentiality of all applications, we have yet to open/take a gander at any of the applicants, so no bias will interfere with your chances as an officer next year.
2) Your DCON deposits: Remember, the first deposit of $100 is due on this date as well! The deposit HAS to be sealed in an envelope with your full name (first and last), as well as your grade level, on it. We will then give you the informational packet with all the necessary information on it (such as medical consent form, etc.). Also, note that the first deposit is refundable, but all deposits after it will be NONREFUNDABLE. It should be a really great trip; I'm getting overly excited already!
As for other updates, we raised over $200 for Alex's Lemonade Stand just from selling lemonades during lunches. I was really impressed not only by the member's zeal for this cause, but the generosity of our classmates.
We will have our Valentine's Day Social/13th General Meeting next week. Our movie night is also scheduled for that night (although if conflicts occur, we will let you know in advance). The movie has been chosen, and I think you'll be pleased to see what we have in store for you. The admission fee is $5 for one person, $8 for you and your "special" friend (really, it can be your actual friend... I'm no different from you). We will also have concession ready. Remember, proceeds go to DCON funds.
LASTLY, (I know this sounds like a lot) we have the 2013 Houston Area Dance Marathon (click here for detailed info) coming up, a massive party in Montrose to benefit the Children's Miracle Network. Parents: do not worry, we have chaperons So do attend and represent the CRHS Key Club!
As always, thank you everyone for your active partake in the club. You really are what makes the club run so smoothly. Only 2 more months until DCON!
Yours in service,
